Join Our Team as a Sixth Form Year Manager!

Hours: 37 hours per week / Term Time Plus 10 Days

Salary: HBHS Band 7 - £25,378.86 - £26,237.65 (Actual Salary)

Are you passionate about supporting young people as they prepare for their future beyond school?

We are looking for an organised, approachable and motivated Sixth Form Year Manager to join our successful Post-16 team and play a key role in supporting students throughout their Sixth Form journey.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with students, families and staff to promote high aspirations, positive wellbeing, strong attendance and successful outcomes.

What “Term Time Plus” Means

This role follows the school calendar, meaning you will work during student term time only, plus an additional 10 days across the year. These additional days are typically used during key periods such as exam results, enrolment, Sixth Form transitions, training and preparation days.

Although you will not work all year round and your salary is calculated on a term-time basis, your pay is spread evenly across 12 months, providing a consistent monthly income while benefiting from extended time off during school holidays.

This structure offers the security of set working hours alongside an improved work–life balance compared to full-year roles.

Please note: The successful candidate will be expected to work from the Sixth Form & GCSE Exam Results Date (Dates TBC) through to the end of August during the summer holidays 2027 and ongoing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral and administrative support to Sixth Form students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges.
  • Monitor attendance, engagement and academic progress, working with students and families to address concerns.
  • Support the Director of Post-16 in developing an aspirational, high-achieving Sixth Form culture.
  • Contribute to UCAS processes, post-16 pathways and transition activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage Sixth Form administrative systems.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies to support student outcomes.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience working in an educational or student-focused setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Sixth Form systems, UCAS, attendance or pastoral support would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Key Skills

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Confident IT skills and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Knowledge of SIMS would be beneficial but is not essential.

Why Join Us?

  • Career Development: Opportunities to grow and develop within a supportive school environment.
  • Supportive Culture: Comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
  • Valued Team: Be part of a school that prioritises staff wellbeing and development.
  • Work–Life Balance: Term-time working with additional days built around key school activities.
  • Great Perks: Access to corporate discounts, reduced membership for Active Life and complimentary Benenden Healthcare.
