Herne Bay High Crochet Club have been very busy this term making Bunnies and Baskets which have been on sale from main reception. There is still have a little money to come in, but they are hoping the final total should be near £200, and this will be going to MENCAP. Miss Reece would like to say special thanks to Mrs Thomson in Reception, Mrs Macey in Technology and Mrs Brown in Science for their help with this project, and to all the students who gave up their time and resources to make the bunnies and baskets.
Next term they are going to be making beaded bags, phone and iPad cases and frogs. If you have any old beads that you no longer need, they would be very happy to recycle them for you. They are also looking for unusual yarns - in particular ribbon and cotton yarn to make into bags. They are also looking for any bright green (frog coloured) yarn.

We had a fantastic time on our Young Carers trip to Riverside Church last week. Our students were given a warm welcome and the opportunity to spend time together, reflect and enjoy a calm, supportive space. Riverside is such an inclusive community, focused on bringing people together and supporting one another, which made it a perfect setting for our group.
A huge thank you also to Imago Community for their continued support. Their work across Kent helps young carers access opportunities, improve wellbeing and feel recognised for the incredible role they play every day.

The PE department would like to say a huge well done to their Year 13 Sport Studies students who this term passed their coaching unit assessment with flying colours. They had nothing but positive feedback from the staff and the students they led.
Well done to them all and they are now on the final straight to completing the course- we will miss them all when they leave Year 13.

Our Sixth form Visual Artists were recently involved in an exclusive exhibition at Beach Creative CIC Gallery in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Artwork explored themes relating to the female experience and received positive feedback from the public. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Last week Miss Kehoe attended UK Goalball Training led by tutors from Goalball UK. Lots of new activities were learnt and then delivered to our PE department in their department training.
The PE Team are looking forward to delivering the fun activities and for the students to develop their understanding of Goalball within our lessons.

Today our A-Level Media Studies students took part in their second BFI online event.
They explored key gender theory from Judith Butler and bell hooks, diving into patriarchy, gender performativity and intersectional feminism through an engaging mix of clips, discussion and interactive activities.
It was a fantastic session that brought complex ideas to life and sparked thoughtful conversation across the group.

The Year 8 STEM Horizons group have had an eye opening visit to Peacehaven Wastewater Treatment Works. They learnt about the various stages that wastewater is processed before witnessing this impressively designed facility in action returning water to the environment. They also acted as town planners and investigated the best methods for supporting the slow return of water to the sewers.

Last week some of our students were lucky enough to watch the on-screen performance of Prima Facie, which was playing at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
Prima Facie is a powerful one-woman show starring Jodie Comer who plays Tessa Ensler, a working-class barrister who defends men accused of sexual assault, only for her world to shatter when she is sexually assaulted by a colleague. The play explores the trauma, victim-blaming, and the harsh realities of the criminal justice system from the inside.
We would like to thank The Marlowe Theatre for providing access to the show, what a fantastic opportunity for our students!

All proceeds will be going to MENCAP. Cards are on sale from today - perfect for Mothers Day this Sunday.
