Entry Year 7 September 2025
Important dates
- November 2024 - Banding Assessments to be held in Primary Schools
- 3rd March 2025 - National Offer day
- 17th March 2025 - Deadline to return waiting list request form to KCC
- 31st March 2025 - Deadline to return appeal form to Kelly Molloy at Herne Bay High School
- April to June 2025 - Admission Appeals held
All students applying to join Herne Bay High School in Year 7 in September 2025 will need to have sat our Banding Assessment; it does not guarantee your child a place at our school, but students will not be offered a place if they haven't sat the assessment. If you have put Herne Bay High School as one of the choices on your Secondary Common Application Form (SCAF) and have not yet applied for your child to sit our banding assessment, please email the school at year6@hernebayhigh.org as soon as possible.
Appeal For Year 7 Entry September 2025
If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2025, you must submit your appeal before Monday 31 March 2025.
For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

A big well done to our Under 13 Girls Basketball team who have made a positive start to this term's fixtures. Last night they played the Abbey School Faversham in a well fought game and won 12-10.
The girls were brilliant at supporting each other on and off the court. Mrs Ferreira and Miss Kehoe are very proud of you.

A big thank you to Herne Bay Tennis Club for coming in to run a CPD session on Pickle Ball for our PE department.
They really enjoyed the session and have learnt lots to be ready to teach in lessons soon. Please look out for the after school club next term, we would love to see you there!

Our A Level photography students took part in a Fashion Photography workshop at Canterbury Christ Church University this week and were able to use their professional equipment and studio space.
Students then sampled the university atmosphere during a tour of the campus and their Graphic Design, Photography and Gaming degree faculties.

The Visual Arts department had the pleasure of taking their Year 12 and 13 students to visit the University for the Creative Arts - UCA Canterbury and Farnham campuses last week.
At Canterbury, students participated in various life drawing techniques, led by university lecturers, and learnt about future creative career paths; whilst at Farnham students had the opportunity to tour the campus and explore the wide range of Art degrees.
We hope these visits inspire our students to take the next step in their art education.

Last term our Crochet Club made and sold keyrings to raise money for the RNLI.
This project was the brainchild of Robert in Year 9, who designed the keyring and also made and sold the most. We're pleased to report that they have raised £115 for the Whitstable Lifeboat.

Calling all budding artists and designers!
Would you like the opportunity to design this year's school Christmas card?
We'd like your entries on the theme of Deck the Halls. Think Christmas decorations, baubles, Christmas trees, garlands, wrapped presents...
Your design can be one side of A4 paper (no bigger) and it needs to be bold and colourful. You can use flat collage or draw/paint, but please don't use 3D elements or words. Focus on the design you would like to show.
Please write your name and mentor group on the back of your entry and hand in to Main Reception by Friday 29th November.
