English Tutor/Teacher (GCSE English Language Resit)

Reporting to: Head of Faculty, Herne Bay High School

About the Role

Herne Bay High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Tutor/Teacher to deliver GCSE English Language Resit lessons following the OCR specification for an external provider in Whitstable. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled teacher to support students in achieving success in their GCSE English qualification within a flexible and supportive learning environment.

The post is offered on a fixed-term basis for the current academic year, with the possibility of extension subject to future need and funding.

Hours

• 10 hours per week
• Hours can be agreed around the needs of the provision and the successful candidate's existing commitments

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging GCSE English Language lessons in line with the OCR specification.
• Assess, monitor and track student progress.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learner needs.
• Prepare students for examination success and build confidence in their English skills.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reporting.
• Liaise with the Head of Faculty and wider staff as required.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching English at Key Stage 4.
• Strong knowledge of GCSE English Language curriculum and examination requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and engage learners with varying levels of attainment.

Desirable

• Experience teaching GCSE English Language resit programmes.
• Familiarity with the OCR GCSE English Language specification.
• Experience supporting students who require additional academic support.
