Sixth Form Open Evening - 20th November

The Sixth Form Open Evening for all Year 11 and visiting students takes place on Wednesday 20th November 2024 from 17:30 to 19:30.  

The information talk will take place at 18:00 in the Bay Theatre.  Subject specialists will be available in the covered courtyard. The event is designed to help students make informed choices for their post-16 studies.  

The Sixth Form is ‘Outstanding’, Ofsted 2022 and a high-profile part of Herne Bay High school with an excellent track record of examination results and applications to competitive courses in Higher Education, other academic routes, apprenticeships, and alternative training pathways. 

All students have access to high quality guidance and support throughout their time in the Sixth Form. Mentoring conversations assist students with everything from discussions around academic progress, setting personal targets, career pathways and personal issues. The pastoral support at Herne Bay High is an area of strength.  

Choosing the correct subjects to study and excelling in them is vital for all students. We hope that the information contained within the online prospectus, will help students to make informed decisions around the subject choices and the career pathways available to them. 

The school offers a challenging and broad range of Level 3 Qualification options. Please refer to our prospectus (www.kentchoices.com) which contains information about the courses available to study from September 2025. Each course description outlines entry requirements, potential Higher Education opportunities and potential careers, which we hope you will find useful.  

Option choices for studying in the Sixth Form should be completed by 7th February 2025 at 3pm. This allows students time to consider their performance in mock examinations and discuss choices with mentors and subject teachers, which we strongly encourage. Students applying from other schools are invited to discuss their choices with our staff at any stage, particularly during individual application meetings.
