Remembrance at Herne Bay High
11 Nov

Once again our school has taken the opportunity to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day and honour the sacrifices of those who came before us.

On Sunday 9th November, the Sixth Form team, accompanied by our Senior Students attended the Civic Remembrance Service at Christ Church St Andrews in Herne Bay. Our students laid a wreath at the town memorial, with Megan and Katie playing an active part in the service reading The Exhortation and The Kohima Epitaph respectively.

Director of Post 16, Mrs Wrigley said "I was especially proud of our students, who carried themselves with such respect and sincerity. Their presence reflected the strength of our community and the importance of passing on the values of remembrance, gratitude, and unity to future generations."

Then, at 11 o'clock on Tuesday 11th, those students who are members of uniformed groups were joined by staff at the school's memorial garden in a short service of remembrance lead by Mr Boyes to mark Armistice Day. Wreaths were laid by Mr Boyes and PC Hughes, our local officer from the Child Centred Policing Team, to remember those from our school community who have gone on to serve in HM Armed Forces and those whose families serve. The two minutes silence was also observed by all students and staff across the school as lessons were paused for this very important and poignant moment.

We would like to thank everyone who has been part of our acts of remembrance this year.
