Food Technician

Position: Food Technician
Contract Type: Term time plus 2 days
Salary: HBHS Band 4 - £23,440 to £23,921 (Pro Rata) Actual Salary - £19,779.84 to £20,185.74
Hours: Monday to Thursday - 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Friday - 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Are you passionate about food technology and looking for a role where you can make a real difference in students' education? We are seeking a proactive, organised, and reliable Food Technician to support our Food Technology department.

As a Food Technician, you will:

• Set up and prepare equipment for student lessons and practical demonstrations.
• Prepare and clear up after practical cooking sessions.
• Clean cookers and sanitize worktops to ensure a safe, hygienic environment.
• Manage stock levels, including checking fridges and contents regularly, and carry out stock checks and ingredient orders.
• Support students with practical and equipment needs, including assisting with SEN students where required.
• Assist in producing method sheets for practical lessons.
• Perform general administrative tasks, including handling exam packs, orders, and any additional tasks to support the smooth running of the department.
• Tidy the pantry and manage ingredients, and ensure the kitchen is neat and well-organized.
• Load and operate dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers as needed.

Ideal candidates will:

• Have experience of using Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and online food shopping systems.
• Demonstrate previous experience in a kitchen environment (preferred).
• Have a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the department.
