Herne Bay High School Admission Arrangements Consultation - Entry September 2026 onwards

Herne Bay High School is committed to ensuring a fair and transparent admissions process in line with the School Admissions Code 2021. This page outlines the consultation process for our admission arrangements in 2026

The code requires consultation in the following circumstances:

  1. When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements (including any supplementary information form) that will apply for admission applications the following school year.
  2. Where the admission arrangements have not changed from the previous year there is no requirement to consult, subject to the requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.

This consultation process is conducted in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021, which sets out the statutory requirements for school admissions in England.

Purpose of the Consultation

The purpose of this consultation is to consult on the proposed admission arrangements for Herne Bay High School for entry in September 2026 and thereafter.

Consultation Period

The consultation period will last for six weeks, starting from 8th October 2024 and ending on 19th November 2024. This period allows sufficient time for stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the proposed changes if necessary.

Proposed Changes

  1. The key proposed change to the admission arrangements is the removal of the banding assessment criteria. This change aims to simplify the admission process and ensure that is is fair and accessible to all applicants.
  2. Rewording of Post 16 entry criteria to simplify and clarify entry requirements

All feedback received during the consultation period will be carefully considered by the school's governing body. A summary of the feedback and the school's response will be publish on the school's website.

Final Decision

The final decision on the admission arrangements will be made by the school's governing body after considering all feedback. The new arrangements will be published on the school's website and will come into effect for admissions from September 2026.
